This is a project I started waaaaay back but never had enough pop tabs or motivation to finish it, until now. I've never had a beaded curtain before and I've always wanted one so one day I decided that I'm going to make one. As I was looking through my boxes, hunting beads, I came across some pop tabs I once collected, and I decided that I want my curtain to be made out of pop tabs!
I wanted one where the pop tabs are overlapped so that there isn't much space in between, meaning I was going to need a LOT of pop tabs. Thanks to all my friends who donated me some! It was especially hard for me since I don't drink a lot of pop.
The method I used to put together the pop tabs is really easy! The hardest part is finding enough time to do it. Here are the steps:
You can use any pop tabs and any type of thread. I used a thin white thread so that it wasn't very visible. Also, when I would run out of thread, I would just cut two new strands of thread and attach them to the ends.
I used approximately 3,500 pop tabs!
Hope you like it!

wow dori! thats impressive, i love it!
Ooh, I saved you a cool tab one day but no idea what I did with it. It will probably show up in the washing machine one day.
I love your curtain!
way to go dori! (:
I loved!!!
I love the way you varied the lengths!
Thanks everyone!!
I varied the lengths because I walk through that doorway a lot and didn't want to keep walking through the curtain.
So amazing!!!
I wonder how it sounds when you walk through it or when the wind blows. Can you record it for few seconds and share it here? :)
Haha that's the strangest request. :P I just may do that.
how did you end it? just knot the string/thread on the last tab?
You can end it however you want, depending on how you'll hang them. I just made a knot and then put an elastic loop through that one for hanging - I chose elastic so that if it's pulled by accident, the whole thing doesn't get as much tension.
How did you attach to the ceiling? Can you provide close up shots of that area if it is different from the main strands? Do they hang weil on their own or do you think something to act as a small weight at the bottom of each would keep it taut?
Hey M,
The pop tabs are pretty heavy on their own. I attached them at the top to a ceiling rod. All I did was close a loop where I decided to end my strand - then I put another loop through that (an elastic one) which is the one that is also tied around the ceiling bar.
Let me know if that helps! I'm sure there are many ways to end it off - whatever looks good to you! :)
Oh, thank you ... thank you ... thank you! I have been saving pop tabs for a few years hoping to make an interesting curtain for ??? Couldn't quite figure out how to connect them, till there was you. :0) And now, I"ve moved into a house with an exposed water heater in the corner of the laundry room. Your pop tab curtain will cover it up and still allow it to "breathe".
OMG! Thanks for the idea! Beautiful!
That is awesome, gives me a great idea for a lamp! :) ♥
How do you hang the strands?
This is an awesome idea! I finally have something to use my collected pop tabs for! How exactly did you attach the extra string when you needed more? Did you just tie it on?
Yeah I would just keep tying more on. Because the thread is thin, you can't really notice the knots!
WOW would like to have a video would be easier for me to see how its really done.
Hey Laura,
If you need help with the steps, let me know and I can help.

The steps are so easy to follow. the info is great, how many tabs you need, Thank you.
how do you work out how much thread you need per meter and pulls ,can you stop and start re threading or did you do in 1 go
Hey, I mentioned at the very end of the blog post but I would actually connect new strands using tiny knots. The knots were usually pretty hidden and not visible in the end!
How many row is it
